 CHILDREN'S VILLAGE

History

Children's Village

Although the social and political situation in Latvia has improved since independence from the USSR in 1991, many children still face malnutrition, delinquency and a lack of parental involvement.  Alcoholism is a major social problem and children are often the first to suffer the effects of this

Since its creation, the Children's Village has provided more and more children from distressed social backgrounds with a decent home, finally enabling their psychological wounds to heal. Since 2006 the village has also accepted people with mental disabilities
